Hawkesbury, December 15, 2025 — The Hawkesbury & Region Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce that a delegation represented the local business community at Hill Day 2025, held on December 1 and 2 in Ottawa and organized by the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
During this national event bringing together business leaders from across the country, Mr. Portelance and Mr. Oda, both members of the Hawkesbury Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, participated in several consultation roundtables with federal representatives responsible for implementing policies stemming from the recent federal budget tabled by the Government of Canada. These meetings provided an opportunity to convey the concerns and realities of businesses in Hawkesbury and Eastern Ontario, with particular emphasis on issues related to competitiveness, innovation, cybersecurity, the use of artificial intelligence, economic development, and productivity.
In accordance with the Chatham House Rules, the details of the discussions and the positions expressed during the meetings cannot be disclosed. However, the participation of the Chamber’s delegation ensured that the voice of the local business community was heard and underscored the importance of considering regional realities when shaping national economic policies.
“This was a valuable opportunity to highlight that Hawkesbury and our entire region, like many other small communities, play an essential role in the Canadian economy. I was able to communicate certain needs and priorities of our businesses, particularly in the context of the most recent federal budget,” said Carl Portelance, Vice-President of the Hawkesbury Chamber of Commerce.
The Hawkesbury Chamber of Commerce will continue its commitment to representing the region’s economic interests and to collaborating with government and institutional partners to foster a dynamic and innovative business environment.
